Project Needs Analysis Question Sheet

Goals: What do you want your project to accomplish?

• State this in terms that are specific, measurable, observable, and relevant
  • WRONG: Participants will understand the importance of CANA in translation
  • BETTER: Participants will generate translated text that is clear, accurate, and acceptable in a natural sounding voice after multiple rounds of checking.

Objectives: How will you know your project succeeded? What things will you see that indicate you have achieved what you set out to accomplish?

• Terminal Objectives: What you want at the end of the training event
• Enabling Objectives: What you need to accomplish in stages during the training event to achieve the terminal objective; i.e. the steps they need to accomplish to reach the ultimate goal

Assets: What do you currently have in place to help you achieve your objectives?

• What do you have that needs to be improved to achieve your objectives?
• What do you currently lack and need to acquire to help achieve the objectives?

Obstacles: What is preventing or hindering you from achieving your objectives?

Opportunities: What are some things you can prepare in order to overcome these obstacles?

Behavior: What do these people need to be able to do?

Condition: What are the things they will need to be able to accomplish their tasks?

Degree: What is an acceptable level of performance of this task?
