Resource Language Content Creators (RLCC) will use this self-evaluation tool as an initial user test of all of the resources, tools, and processes they have developed for Bible translators. The final project will permit the resource language content team to identify missing resources that need to be created and troubleshoot resource that need to be fixed. After completing this final project, the RLCC team can feel confident that their resources and tools are ready for Bible translators to use.
Resource Language Trainers (RLT) will use this process to help them internalize how the translation resources work together so they can use the same process to train Bible translators.
This final project is a simulation of a Bible Translation book package project. Resource Language Content Creators do not create reader versions of the Bible. The RLCC/RLT team will need to experience the resources and processes as if they were Bible translators in order to user test what they have created. They can do this by producing a reader version of the Bible in the target language.
The final project progresses through the direction of the RLCC & RLT teams. The more the team desires to master their processes and fix mistakes to serve Bible translators, the more efficiently and effectively this project will serve the team’s needs. In other words, your team will get as much out of the final project as they are willing to put into it. They can go quickly and not learn much or they can go deeply which will result in many changes to the resources and adaptation of the training for using them.
To create a lifelike scenario for the project, the RLCC/RLT team should produce a specific reader version in the resource language for the book of 3 John. Examples for the project include 1) a reader version of 3 John to be performed on the radio, 2) a children’s reader version of 3 John, 3) a study Bible reader version of 3 John, etc.
The RLCC/RLT team is not limited to the examples above. A scenario for the resource language may exist that would be more beneficial. Please choose a scenario that serves the team best, or have the team decide on a project they would like to complete.
